The Church of
Our Lady of Sablon is located at Place du Grand-Sablon. It is also called Our
Lady of the Sandhill. The church is considered as one of the most beautiful
Gothic churches in Brussels and was built in the 15th and 16th
centuries. The Guild of Crossbowmen paid for it and it was their guild church.
The church features brightly colored stained glass windows that are illuminated
from the inside at night. The central nave is lit by 11 stained glass windows
with each window measuring 15 meters high. There is an elaborately curved
wooden pulpit that was the work of Marc de Vos in 1697. It is decorated with
medallions of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Virgin Mary, and St. Thomas.
