Visiting the atelier and a part of the original house of classical sculptor Léon Sarteel (1882-1942) is definitely not one of Ghent's top attractions. But it's very touching to see how his family carefully restored the atelier in 2002 and also changed a part of the house into an exhibition room. You can visit this project every third saturday of the month (but not in july or august) between 2 pm and 5 pm. There are also drawings and paintings by his children Léon Sarteel Jr. (1925-1949) and Clara Mion-Sarteel (1932-2002) on display. The sculptor's house is next to the Villa De Bondt. Vaderlandstraat 166, 9000 Gent.
