Lagos, Algarve, Portugal.

Just under one hours drive from Faro International Airport  on a two lane motorway the A 22 which as at January 2012 is NO LONGER toll free !  Alternatevly select the N125 from Faro, if you want to miss the toll gates. But be prepared for traffic congestion in the high season.

Turn off SP Lagos then head for Lagos town itself with quaint small streets, best to park the car and walk. Head for the marina if you want to go dolfin watching, learn to sail, sunset champagne cruises etc are all available.

However, the choice of Lagos, ( The best in the west ) is simply because you have a choice of beaches, South or West.

There are numerious beaches between Lagos & Sagres, most with easy access.  Travel 30 minutes west to unbspoilt beaches often with large Atlantic rollers to surf on.

There are many beach bars, but whey not pack some fresh bread rolls, large juicy tomatoes, a bottle of cold white wine  and fnd a quiet spot with views of the Atlantic sea.
