Visitors have numerous options for getting to Tampere, which include by air, road and rail.

The easiest and most convenient way of traveling to Tampere is to fly directly into the Tampere-Pirkkala International Airport, which is located less than 20 km outside of the city center.  This is Finland’s third busiest airport, and has many daily incoming flights from domestic and international locations.  There are two bus options for commuting between the airport and the city, and are operated by Paunu Bus and RyanAir Bus.  There are numerous Car Rental Agencies based around the airport (as well as in the city), but first time visitors to the country should check out this Driving in Finland page before deciding to get behind the wheel of a car.  Taxis are also available for commuting from the airport to the city.

Traveling to Tampere by bus from various cities around Finland is possible, as Tampere has a major coach station located in the city center.  The Matkahuolto Bus Company has various daily routes that lead to Tampere.

The Finnish Railway Company has many routes throughout Finland that connect the largest and most important cites, including Tampere.  The city Railway Station is the only stop in Tempere.
