Tramore was an old fishing village, until in the 1800's a local resident, Mr. Rivers, obtained a charter to hold horse racing on the strand and to hold fairs. This attracted many visitors to the town and as more attractions were added, more visitors came!
Today Tramore is a family fun resort with lots of thigs to do and see from surfing on the strand to horse treking through forests. Tramore plays host to a 50 acre amusement park, Splashworld swimming pool and leisure centre, Runamuck kids play area, the Copper Coast Mini Farm and the jewel on the crown, a 3 mile long golden strand with and extensive sand dune network.
