The streets of Lindos are too narrow for cars so the only transport you'll see in the centre are donkeys and the odd moped. The donkeys offer rides up to the Acropolis or up the steep hill from the small/Pallas beach.

For those staying up at Krana Hill there is a free bus service during the day to take you up and down the hill to the main square and main beach (operates until 6-7pm only). The service bus no longer stops in the main square so if you want to catch the bus for Rhodes Town, etc you can also use this free bus service to take you to the top of the hill.

NB. 2012: The free bus service was quite sporadic early season and though available now it finishes earlier (around 4pm). The bus no longer visits the beach and there's a suggested 50c donation to help keep the service running.

The shuttle bus in 2015 now has a fixed fare of 6 cents

The local buses stop at the top of the hill just by the coach/car park. Timetables can be found in the information kiosk in the main sqaure and also at the bus information kiosk at the top or via this link

The price of a single to Rhodes Town (2012) is 5.50 Euros.

Buses on the east coast are not the rickety, cramped, old buses that people used to associate with the greek isles - you'll find all service buses are modern, air-conditioned coaches.

There is a taxi rank in Lindos at the main square. Taxis are metered but as a guide you'll find a board at the taxi rank with a current price list fo major destinations. A taxi to Rhodes Town currently costs 55 euros, Rhodes Airport 65 euros.

One of the best ways to see the island, you'll find several companies offering car hire in Lindos. Particulary in low/mid season they can be quite competitive offering promotions such as 3 days for the price of 2. Make sure they let you know where to park as some of the parking in Lindos in now metered.

There are many accidents involving tourists on motorbikes every year so you need to practice extreme caution if you do hire a bike. It's now illegal to ride without a crash helmet and not only are you open to injury without one, you'll also have to pay a fine.

Many of the travel offices in Lindos and Pefkos also sell organised excursions. Some of the more popular excursions on offer are the Island Tour, South of the Island tour (including Prassonisi where the 2 seas meet), Boat to Symi, Marmaris (Turkey), Rhodes Town, Greek Night and Faliraki Waterpark.
