If you love classical Georgian architecture you can't go past the interesection of Macquarie and Murray Streets. On all four corners there are beautiful gems in mellow sandstone. The Treasury Buildings, the old banks, the legal offices and of course St David's Cathedral.
There is also the new Wellington Centre which goes between Argyle and Liverpool Streets. The basement hosts a Woolworths supermarket and at street level there is a shopping arcade
In contrast to the Wellington, there is the Bank Arcade next door; a narrow but attractive stretch of eclectic shops and lunch spots. It's very much like what you'd find in Melbournes lanes, very people friendly, busy but not crowded and fully tenanted.
