Orbit Restaurant

Sky City, Sky City Tower Building, corner Victoria and Federal Street, Auckland Central, Auckland

This restaurant has to be the first to mention, located high up in "Sky City" - the tower building which is the most visible in the Auckland skyline. The restaurant rotates, and the food is pretty good, but the view is the most incredible thing - 360 degrees of Auckland, you can see Auckland's distinctive volcanic cones, the North Shore and harbour.

Sails Restaurant

Westhaven Marina, Westhaven Drive, Auckland

The view is of a sea of masts, located on Westhaven marina which is the base of Auckland as the "city of sails". The restaurant itself features a large menu (with of course seafood and fish options, as well as the usual chicken, lamb and veal, and has a very good reputation.

White Restaurant

End of Princes Wharf, (part of Hilton Hotel), 147 Quay Street, Auckland

From a privileged wharf-end, 2nd storey position, White Restaurant has one of the best views in all of Auckland. Absolute waterfront in almost all directions. The restaurant itself is a high-end establishment, and part of the Hilton Hotel. The name references the colour scheme - which is white on white on white on white. And it's not cheap of course, with entrees at NZ $20 and mains at NZ $37, but a great place to be seduced by the spectacular Waitemata harbour, or to do the seducing...

Soul Bar and Bistro

Viaduct Harbour, Auckland

Located slap in the middle of Auckland's Viaduct Harbour, amongst yachts and all the action. This place is divided into a bar area, and restaurant which boasts an elevated position (and view) both inside and out. Book early to get a view outside (under cover) to really get the most out of this place. Expect it to be a bit rowdy at night of course, but then again the revellers are all part of the view.

Euro Restaurant

Viaduct Harbour, Auckland

Another Viaduct Harbour restaurant, beside the hot nightspots "Pasha" and the "Green Room" which are owned by the same people. Outdoor eating with views to the marina, as well as a lush marble and polished wood interior. Food is award-winning and consistently good. Hence the imperative for booking as you'll be fighting with the locals for a table.
