Yellow Fever warning

Arriving in Zanzibar a representative from the Health Ministry checks your vaccinations. If you have been travelling between Uganda and Kenya you will not have been checked before, but the officer in the Zanzibar Airport is very insistent, does not speak English and demands you get a yellow fever injection for 40 USD, if you papers are not in order. Note that Kenya is on the list of "dangerous" yellow fever areas, see also:

A yellow fever injection is usually not enough, you need 2 or 3 injections in order to be correctly protected, so an injection on arrival may not solve the problem.

Please ensure you bring you "yellow book" vaccination declarations with you including a yellow fever stamp before entering Zanzibar. The status for other airports in Tanzania is unknown....
