Windhoek has a vibrant artistic community. Throughout the city, there are numerous galleries which hold different exhibitions and events to display local talent throughout the year. For instance, the National Art Gallery of Namibia which is located on the corner of John Meinart and Robert Mugabe Ave, is a popular venue to visit. Also esteemed is the Yebo Gallery in the John Muafangejo Art Center (JMAC) in Katutura.   This center teaches classes and also displays local art. The Atelier Kendzia in Windhoek West, the House of Art in the Maerua Shopping Mall and the Omba Gallery in the Namibia Craft center, are all popular venues for viewing local art.

For live performance, the Warehouse localed in the historical Old Breweries Building, by the Namibia Craft Centre, offers live plays, music and concerts of a variety of styles. In addition the National Theatre of Nambia hosts performances by the Windheok Symphony Orchestra. The theatre also collaborated with the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre, bringing in unique and celebrated theatrical and musical productions from Europe and Africa. This theatre is located on Robert Mugabe Avenue. Other good venues for viewing theater and arts are the College for the Arts and the Performing Arts Department of the University of Namibia. In both venues there are often shows, dances and art exhibitions.

In addition to these venues which are exclusively for professional performances, many bars and clubs in the city proper also host live music concerts and even some dance. In addition, there is an excellent film complex, called the Ster Kinekor complex lcoated in Maerua Park.
