The Philippines, especially Cebu, has a vast and diverse culture with its 7,107 islands broken down into three regions: Luzon, Mindanao and the Visayas.
From these three regions comes a wealth of culture, with Spanish, Malay and other influences. All Filipinos are considered 'Pinoy.'
However, in Cebu they are called Cebuano. Cebu comes from the Visayans region. Pinoys born and raised in Cebu can all speak Tagalog, the national language of the Philippines, but they also speak Cebuano. Many from Manila who speak Tagalog cannot understand completely.
In the Mindanao region is yet another version of language derived from Tagalog. It is said that the Philippines originally had more than 100 different languages within the country.
The art and grace of the Filipino people is an amazing thing: people who take absolutely nothing and make it into something; people who take hardship and turn it into a art form.
Nothing represents this better than the Filipino Cultural Dance. Such beautiful and amazing hand made costumes and instruments made from the forest or from animals.
