Renting property in Argentina will require the tenant to produce a guarantor (Garante, or Garantia as its known here) to "co-sign" the lease. Keep this in mind for those wanting to move here and looking into renting an apartment for something close to a regular lease (which is usually a 2 year term). Non residents not working for a large corporation will usually have trouble getting a "Garantia", and therefore will have to either cough up a larger than usual deposit (in cash), or else pre-pay a very sizeable portion (up to the entire lease). Please note that apart from the Garantia issue, a security deposit of 1 to 3 months of rent will also be required.
