Sigatoka is a very small town with only about 8,000 inhabitants. Though there are tourists who generally come and go quite frequently, there isn't a large demand for a taxi service. There are taxis that run in and out of the surrounding towns, however. If you are staying in another town not too far away, you will be able to get a taxi to take you to Sigatoka, but you would have to pay the driver a lot of money. Also, if you wanted to stay the whole day and then be driven back, you would have to pay another very large amount of money to keep the driver around. In theory, you could ask for the driver to come back for you, but there is no guarantee that they will come back on time or at all. For this reason, it is a good idea to rent a car if you plan on visiting the town. This is a good option because it allows you to have mobility and peace of mind. If you are staying in a more built up area with hotels and resorts, you'll definitely be able to rent a car. The price will vary depending on how long you will have it and what type you get, but it shouldn't be too expensive, especially if you are only getting it for the day.
