Uzice is an economic, administrative, health, cultural and
sports centre of the south-western part of Serbia and of Zlatibor District. Užice lies at 411 metres above sea level, on both sides of
the river Đetinja. Užice is completely surrounded by the Dinaric Alps, which
are interconnected.South of the city of 25 kilometres is a mountain Zlatibor .
West of the city are mountains Tara and Zvijezda, which include The National
Park with an area of 220 km2 of unspoiled nature. North of the city are
mountains Povlen and Maljen, comprising the northern beam Dinaric Alps. Uzice has an excellent tourist and geographic position which
enables it to be ranked among the transit tourist centers of Serbia. The
railway line connecting Beograd- Bar goes trough Uzice, as well as main roads
leading towards the Republic of Srpska, Bosnia, the Montenegrin coast, then
towards Belgrade, Cacak, Kraljevo, Nis.The airport “Uzice” at Ponikve highland is 18 km away from
the city, as well as popular tourists centers : Mts. Zlatibor, Tara, Zlatar,
Golija, then Perucac on the Drina river, and famous monumental and historic
values in Prijepolje, Priboj, Uvac, Arilje, Karan, Potpec, Mokra Gora. Thanks
to its location, altitude, different scenery, relief forms, floral species,
hydrographic facilities, climate, the territory of Uzice municipality
represents a unique natural complex for tourism development.
