Not many people know about how good the golf courses and playing conditions are in Chiang Rai. During the winter months, there is no better pace to play golf. Cool mornings and moderate temperatures during the day offer perfect golfing weather and combined with Chiang Rai's beautiful natural tourist attractions offer the golfing tourist the perfect escape. Chiang Rai is home to one of the best, and most pleasing to play, golf courses in Thailand. Santiburi Golf Club is rated consistently in the top 5 courses in Thailand and all year round it offers the best, by far, golfing value for money.

Santiburi Golf Club

The Chiang Rai Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed Santiburi Country Club course is widely regarded as one of the best conceived and maintained golf courses in Asia. Golfers living in Thailand will tell you that Santiburi in Chiang Rai is one of their favorite golf courses in Thailand. Santiburi is located about 12km from the city.

Waterford Valley Golf Club

Waterford Valley Golf Club is set at the Southern end of the Waterford Valley in the Wiang Chiang Rung Hills. Waterford Valley Golf Course is 40 minutes from the city of Chiang Rai in one of Thailand’s most attractive and coolest areas, the Waterford Valley itself being of exceptional natural beauty, less traveled and featuring many hidden lakes. Well signposted and just off the 1173 main road from Chiang Rai to Chiang Khong and almost half way to Chiang Khong.  Designed in 1994 by Rather International, the natural beauty, views, and refreshing climate make Waterford Valley an excellent choice for a day of golf in Chiang Rai.

Happy City Golf Resort

Happy City Golf Resort is located in the Northern Thailand foothills about 15km outside Chiang Rai. Locally designed and built, three 9-hole courses comprise the Mountain, Lakes, and River courses. Most holes at Happy City feature elevated tees playing to winding fairways with tough approach shots over water.

Mae Kok Golf Club

This course is located within the Fort Mengraimaharaj Army Sport Center and is only 3km from the city centre. It would be described as an average local course but is maintained well enough to provide a good day out. The Caddies are well presented, helpful and friendly which makes up for anything else that might not be as good as the other courses.
