Especially since 2009, the disabled holiday is deleloping in Antalya by the support of the governement and some travel agencies. Much of Antalya and the surrounding mediterranean regions did not have the infrastructure that many disabled, handicapped or special need tourists would be used to western Europe or USA for example. However now, awareness is growing and increasingly more hotels and resorts are catering for special needs.

The larger hotels and resorts have wheelchair access and facilities as good as any in the world with purpose built suites with bathrooms and toilets for disabled guests. The hotels in the  Lara and Belek regions are prefered by tourists as they can go out of their hotel with their mobility scooter or wheelchair easily.

During your holiday, if you need any mobility equipement as electric or manual wheelchair, mobility scooters, ramps, beach wheelchair or bathroom equipement, city tours or wheelchair access airport transfers with an  wheelchair adapted vehicle, you can find it easly. All equipment can be hired and used during your holiday.

The bigger buses now have a system that tilts the bus to make it level with the pavement  for ease of access. There are safety straps to secure wheelchairs during the journey. Each bus has dedicated seating for disabled, elderly and pregnant passengers.

Most areas of the city centre are accessible. The locals are generally very willing to provide any assistance. In 2014 elevator access was built down to the old harbour in Kaleici.
