Hoi An is friendly, a lot of english and is geared up for tourism. Old, with modern hotels, the usual VN markets and seaside resorts. Try not to get irritated by the constant offers of wallets, sunglasses and motorbike rides etc.

If you are unsure where to eat, try the Banana Split at 53 Haong Dieu Street, for a great Cao Lau, cheap internet and free conversation and advice. It may not look much, but this is one of the cheapest and best places to take time out. Face the bridge and turn left to find a good tailor next door.

Hoi An is also easy to explore on bicycle. Your hotel probably will provide these for free, and perhaps a free bus shuttle service.
