This is what one is looking forward to during the trip to Kota Kinabalu. A one stop centre where I can see the place where the major tribes in Sabah can show their unique culture and building all in one place. The Mari-mari Cultural village is about 20-30 minutes from KK city which is at the fringe of the jungle. Once one arrived at the entrance you will cross a hanging bridge over a stream with nice waterfall from the hill.
You will be greeted by the tribesmen and you will be taken on a guided tour to the 5 traditional buildings of the 5 different tribes. There will also be some traditional demenonstration of cooking, making rice wine, making a dress from tree bark etc and the climax will be a cultural show in a mini theatre and this is followed by dinner/lunch.
I think the best time to go is in the evening as I think it lends to the original sense and feelings in the jungle.
