Dining on  South Congress Street : Tex-Mex at Guero's; upscale at 1600 S. Congress St. Cafe; or unique eating experience at the carnival-like block of food vendors in trailers such as The Mighty Cone and Hey, Cupcake.   You might want to try fish tacos at Wahoo's.  And try a new flavor down the street at Amy's Ice Cream.

Shopping on South Congress Street: boutiques, boots (either Allen Boots or the small high-end boot boutique near the bottom of the hill), Hispanic household goods at Mi Casa, eclectic mix at Uncommon Goods emporium, and a weekend flea market.

Zilker Park offers botanical gardens, miniature train (25-minute ride), Barton Springs, Splash! aquifer exhibit, and the Umlauf Sculpture Garden across the street.

Austin has lots of music venues - Broken Spoke on Thursday offered dinner and dancing in a honky-tonk western atmosphere, Continental Club on Friday night offered jazz, and on Saturday, KebMo played blues and other genres at Austin City Limits.  And this was not during a music festival.

The "Keep Austin Weird" t-shirts expressed the pride these Texans feel in their unique city.
