Our guide book highly recommended that we slip into the High Court (not the District Court nearby) and observe a trial or hearing. We were shy but the book said it was permitted so we sat quietly at the back of 3 different courtrooms and watched. Hard to hear because of the acoustics and the accent but it was FASCINATING -- with judges very formal and advocates in fancy dress! No cameras allowed. Then we crossed the road and found our way into Convocation Hall (the side door was open) at the magnificent University -- all the pomp and splendour of past eras and civilizations.
