Mendoza is a great place to come for festivals! The city is full of celebrations and the people and tourists together combine to make a very active and outdoorsy city of action. Mendoza is the premier region for winemaking in Argentina and has only continued to grow in reputation and production. People now travel from all over the world, not only for the beauty of the region and the sports activities here, but for a taste of the wine from the land where it was grown. Because of this and originally, because of the importance wine has played in this region, the biggest festival to attend in Mendoza is the Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia. This grand festival celebrates wine and the annual grape harvest; it occurs each year near the end of February through the beginning of March. Aside from a lot of wine, the festival includes a parade, a pageant, music and dance, and incredible food. It is definitely a festival many plan to attend when visiting this area.

Also celebrating the consumable, this time for tomato and melon families is the Festival de la Tonada and the Fiesta Folklorica-Ecuestre, also in February (a good month to visit!).

Christmas, although in the middle of the summer down here, is also a beautiful time be in Mendoza and traditional dinners and decorations do take place throughout the city.
