Typically, international travelers first arrive in Quito, Ecuador before traveling to Baños. There are numerous international airlines that cater flights to Quito daily. The cheapest departure cities from the US are Los Angeles, Miami and New York City. Also, there are flights from Houston and Panama City. The main airlines are American Airlines, Mexicana and LAN. Once in Quito, there are several options on how to get to Baños. One option is to take a connecting flight on a regional airline. This is not the cheapest way to get there by any means.

Another option is to take a bus.  There are busses to and from Baños, that arrive from Quito, as well as from Ambato, the capital of Tungurahua province, Cuenca, Latacunga, Riobamba, and Puya Puya. Thus, if one is traveling all around Ecuador and has the luxury of time, this is the best and cheapest option. Also, the bus ride from Quito to Baños takes about 4 hours and costs only $3. The station, Terminal Terrestre, where travelers are dropped off is conveniently located within walking distance to most of Banos’ hotels and main streets.

A final option is to rent a jeep in Quito and drive there oneself but obviously this takes an adventurous and brave person, if not familiar with the Ecuadorian roads and driving customs.
