Phoenix is a great place to travel (or to live) with kids!  You rarely have to worry about what to do on a rainy day!  You never need to worry about boots, hats, mittens... just sunscreen.

On a hot day head to Salt River Tubing www.saltrivertubing.com.  A bus takes you, the kids and your cooler filled with ice, snacks and drinks up the river along with your rented inner tubes.  Remember to get an extra tube for the cooler and you'll all float down the river just a little "cooler".

Everyone loves the Desert Botanical Garden www.dbg.org.  Early opening and late closing hours let you take advantage of cooler temps.  Go right around sunset, the views are fabulous.  You (and the kids) will learn more than you ever imagined there was to learn about cacti and other desert plants from the excellent signage and even more excellent volunteers working all over the garden.  Lunch and salads are available at the cafe.

For some indoor fun and learning head to the Heard Museum www.heard.org.  This world-class mecca for Native American art has kid friendly exhibits about all the Arizona tribes and reservations as well as temporary exhibits that are thought provoking for adults and kids alike.

Another great place to visit is the Arizona Science Center www.azscience.org. The science center has entertainment for all ages really, with over 300 hands on exhibits in 5 themed galleries. Kids of all ages and parents alike can learn and have fun at the same time! There's always something exciting going on too besides the regular exhibits.
