VisitScotland , the national tourism agency for Scotland, offers a wide range of information and detail on Ullapool via the Tourist Board web site.
In the fishing port of Ullapool in
Wester Ross - the main ferry terminal for the
Western Isles - you will find attractions such as the award-winning Ullapool Museum and Visitor Centre with its celebration of 'the people of the loch', the West Highland Woollen Company and a multitude of other craft shops and galleries. The lively village also boasts Lochbroom Leisure - a swimming pool and sports centre.
To the west of Ullapool is the Inverpolly National Nature Reserve - a home to pine martens, wildcats, buzzards and golden eagles. Look out for the unique shape of Stac Pollaidh (sometimes written Stack Polly), one of the most photographed hills in this area.
South from Ullapool are attractions such as Leckmelm Shrubbery and Arboretum, Lael Forest Garden, and the dizzy-making depths of Corrieshalloch Gorge and the Falls of Measach. Along the road to Poolewe are great views out to sea over golden beaches and green, rocky islands, and the world famous
Inverewe Garden overlooking Loch Ewe.
