Carmel is a popular choice for a vacation, weekend getaway, or as an add-on to your California vacation. It’s an easy, and short, drive from the San Francisco or San Jose areas. Carmel is always beautiful, but most agree that spring and fall are the best, weather-wise. The summer can get foggy, and winter a bit rainy. Neither of those is a problem if you love curling up by the fire after a walk on the beach, or attending one of the numerous theatre, dance or music performances that Carmel is famous for!

Carmel is a GREAT walker's town. We love the cozy cottage style of architecture and Ocean Ave is chock full of wonderful shops and restaurants. The business district leads several blocks, from Carmel Plaza at the top, to the beach at the bottom. The streets flanking Ocean have a dazzling array of galleries as well as more unique shops and restaurants.

There are a variety of places to stay, from small B and B’s to larger hotels, including the Cypress Inn. The Cypress Inn, owned by actress Doris Day, is a great hotel for both humans and their canine pals. Carmel may be one of the most Pet Friendly towns in the US. Most stores, and several restaurants, welcome your furry friends. The public beach also allows dogs off leash.

If you are looking for outings, after you have exhausted the joys of Carmel-by-the Sea, there are plenty of close-by options. Carmel offers easy access to the famed 17 mile drive, and Pebble Beach, via a gate. You can cut thru 17 mile drive and come out in Pacific Grove. The fabulous Monterey Bay Aquarium, as well as Cannery Row, are just a stones throw from there. In the other direction, Big Sur and Nepenthe are an easy and breathtaking drive down the coast. The third direction takes you into Carmel Valley where you can golf, wine taste or spa.!

All in all, whether golf or performing arts, fine dining and shopping or spectacular scenery is your goal, Carmel is one of the best destinations in California!
