Cucina Alessa in Huntington Beach will appeal to those who enjoy authentic Italian food. The restaurant is new to the downtown area. (It has a sister restaurant of the same name in Newport Beach that preceded the HB location.) The HB restaurant is five blocks inland from the beach on Main St. at Sixth. It's across the street from the library where you will find plenty of parking if there isn't a place on the streets near Alessa. The dinner choices include antipasti, insalate, paste, secondi, many varieties of pizza, and desserts. There is a full bar. Lunch hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and they are also open for breakfast, beginning at 8 a.m., on weekends. Breakfast offerings include frittate, panini, and specialita such as modo mio (two eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast) or uova arrabiata (two eggs baked with arrabiata sauce, with cheese, over garlic focaccia). They also have an extensive take-out menu. Prices for pasta range from $12 to $17 and for main courses from $17 to $25. Atmosphere is somewhat casual, and there are very large windows that open fully to give diners a breezy view of the interesting bicycle and foot traffic on Main. There are some small tables outside for dining al fresco. Link to their website: Cucina Alessa
