Daytona Beach is generally known as being a safe place for visitors.  However, it is a good idea to use common sense while traveling, as tourists in all resort cities are often the targets of petty criminals.  When arriving in Daytona Beach you should be sure to take note of any areas that seem unsafe and be sure to avoid them.  Always lock the doors to your car and do not store valuable in plain site.   It is also important to be sure that the doors and windows to your hotel room are locked as well.  Men should not carry their wallets in their back pockets, nor should anyone carry large amounts of cash.  Going out at night alone is never a good idea and the in-room safe at your hotel should be used to store valuables when you do go out.  If an emergency does arise, dial 911 from any phone.
