If you're visiting Key West on a budget, you can save quite a bit of money by getting some of your food at a grocery store.  There are several large chain grocery stores in Key West - two Publix stores and a Winn-Dixie.  Publix is located on Roosevelt boulevard and in the Key Plaza where the old Albertson's was.  Winn-Dixie, which has ready-made sandwiches and daily hot food specials, is also on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Overseas Market shopping center.  This center also includes a drive-through coffee shop, a Chinese restaurant, and a bagel shop for other quick food options.

Stores like this can be great to stock up on snacks and drinks for your trip, as well as easy-to-prepare basics like bagels and breakfast cereal.  A bag of fruit and a pack of granola bars can go a long way, especially if you're traveling with hungry children!  However, make sure not to miss out on breakfast in Key West while you're there!

If you'd like a bit more local flavor to your meals, there are a few local grocery options in Key West as well.  Fausto's Food Palace, on Fleming Street, has a wide selection of groceries that you'd never see at home!  They can be a bit pricey, as many of their options are 'gourmet', but they do have some more economical choices, and are still generally cheaper than eating out.  If you're worried about eating healthy (which can be a bit difficult on vacation!), you can also try The Sugar Apple on Simonton Street, which specialises in health foods and has their own juice bar and lunch counter. Another healthy alternative is Help Yourself, an all organic market and cafe on Fleming and Maragaret Streets. Everything is made from scratch with organics, and there are plenty of prepared food options as well as an extensive menu which includes raw and vegan options, as well as chicken and salmon choices, as well as everything in between.

If you dont have the facilities to store/prepare groceries, or would just rather eat out, never fear!  There is a myriad of fantastic restaurants in Key West, many of which are actually quite affordable.  Check out this page for a start, but don't be afraid to try some of the corner shops and other places you may find on your journey!
