Baton Rouge has a semi-tropical climate with mild and short winters, warm falls and cool springs. The weather in Baton Rouge in usually warm from May-September, sometimes extending into October and beginning as early as April. If you do not like cold weather, this may be the place for you as the winter is short-lived, only lasting for two months, January and February. If you plan on touring antebellum homes and plantations, Spring time is the best time to come. Only a light jacket is needed and the flowers are glorious. You may want to bring an umbrella just in case, as the precipitation is well-distributed all year with an annual average of 55 inches.
