Tucked away inside the Baker Library-- go down the steps on either side of the large building, which itself is a replica of Independence Hall in Philadelphia-- is an art masterpiece, José Clemente Orozco's mural, "The Epic of American Civilization." This giant fresco covers both wings of the reference reading room, and the 24 panels form a powerful work, created between 1932 and 1934. There's a digital version now available online but it's no substitute for seeing the real thing.
