The nearby White Mountains offer numerous activities and attractions to satisfy travelers of all ages. To take in the region’s scenic beauty consider a ride on the 80-passenger aerial tramway, which offers views of the surrounding region. From the top of the summit, at 4,200-feet, you can see the White Mountains, and to neighboring Maine, Vermont and Canada. At the time you can enjoy a meal at the top of the mountain, and visit other nearby attractions such as the Old Man of the Mountain Museum. The tram runs from May through October. Visit the Cannon Aerial Tramway Web site for more information.

The Conway Scenic Railroad also offers two separate train runs, which carry passengers through the surrounding region, and include a dinning car for a turn-of-the-century experience. Reservations are suggested.

For another railroad experience there is the Hobo Railroard, which is a 15-mile ride that takes about an hour and a half, and takes riders through the scenic setting along the Pemigewasset River. Ride in restored vintage coaches, and enjoy a “Hobo” picnic lunch, which is served on board. Hop the train from Memorial Day through October.

You don’t have to be lost to find the Lost River Gorge & Boulder Caves . But you can get a guided tour of the caves, and even see inside a waterfall. The river, which heads through the rocks seemingly disappears and this makes for a fascinating attraction for young and old.
