Lake George is a Town, a Village and a beautiful 32-mile lake that stretches through various towns, villages and counties in upstate New York. It is a wonderful vacation destination that is sure to have something for everyone.

When you come to the Lake George area you may enjoy a variety of different activities depending on the season. No matter what the season, there is always plenty to do including, hiking, shopping and various fun outdoor activities.

In the winter there is the Winter Carnival held in Lake George Village and the southern tip of Lake George.  The winter Carnival is a month long winter celebration, featuring a polar plunge (people go into the frigid waters of Lake George on a cold winter day), food cook offs, variety of ATV, motorcycle, snowmobile and 4 x 4 races, dogsled pulls and outhouse races (Yes, outhouse races), fireworks and other fun family activities. 

In summer the lake features boating activities, swimming, hiking, camping, shopping, amusement parks with thrill rides, water parks, parasailingA sailboat on Lake George at Black Mountain Point and many other fun summer activities. 

The focal point of many summer activities is the Queen of American Lakes, Lake George. Lake George is a 32-mile lake that spans from Lake George Village in the south to Ticonderoga at the north end.  The lake is spring fed filled with many islands of all different sizes.  Islands on the lake come in different varieties; the public islands may be enjoyed for camping, some for day use (picnics) and others are for cruiser camping. Lke George wildlife Cruiser camping allows a boater to stay overnight on their boat, no tents are allowed. The autumn of course brings the beautiful fall foliage and all the splendid colors that go with it. There are plenty of ways to see the foliage from the scenic drives around the area, to boat rides on Lake George and even hiking in the many trails in and around Lake George.
