Skaneateles is a small, sweet town with lots of good people, places, and things to do. It's no New York City, it's better!

You can visit some restaurants in the village, such as Joe's Pasta Garage (a local favorite), the Sherwood Inn (okay prices with good food and rooms), Valentine's (local pizza shop), and Johnny Angels (Burgers, Fries and Shakes, etc.).

You can go to the country club and swim in the lake, BBQ on the lakefront, or just chill.

You can also walk around and shop at the local stores. Some of the best include: Cate & Sally (clothing), Village Choices (antiques and Vera Bradley EVERYTHING!), Imagine (fine glass and jewelry), Green Mountain Coffee Co. (Fine chocolates and gourmet coffees), and Aristocats and Dogs (a pet supply store)

You should also look into a ride on the Judge Ben Wiles, for a 3-hour tour of the lake and a nice dinner. (The Judge is a dinner boat that points out places of interest around the lake. It's run by Mid-Lakes Navigation, which also does 1-hour sightseeing cruises, 2-hour lunch/brunch cruises, and a 3-hour U.S. mailboat cruise).

It is rumored that Derek Jeter once stayed here in Skaneateles (and may be looking for a home), and Tom Cruise supposedly considered Skaneateles as a destination for his wedding (He grew up in Syracuse). Also, former President Bill and Senator Hillary Clinton stayed here in the late 1990s.

Skaneateles is located about 1/2 hour to an hour away from the Syracuse International Airport, about 3 hours from Albany, and about 5 hours from New York City.
