The tiny hamlet of Sugar Loaf, NY is a favorite in all seasons. Each side of this hamlet is lined with crafts of all kinds; pottery, jewelery, clothing, paintings, photography, health and beauty, carvings and such. Included is the seasonal Lyceum Gallery and Theater. This is a visit worth a day's time for the over 25 crowd. Children will not find too much to do and many of the shops are crowded with items on display.
There are seasonal events from spring to fall. Check with their website, sugarloafnewyork.com , where you will also find driving directions and merchant info.Winter allows one to meet with and chat with the craftsman, artisans and shop owners. There are fewer visitors, but some shops are not always open. Check the website for hours. Summer is frequently crowded and parking can be a bit challanging.
Surrounding the area are several wineries in nearby Warwick and Washingtonville. Both of these communities also have seasonal festivals. Area accomodations range from motels to B&Bs. If you are traveling from the NYS Thruway (I87) you pass the Woodbury Commons Outlet Center with over 200 stores
