Listen to an Indian classical music concert. Attend the Maverick concerts (classical western music in a rustic setting) Hang out at the Colony Cafe. Take a dance class at the Mountain View Studio (Rock City Rd) Shop at a boutique; Dharmaware is one of the best. Have a bite at a local cafe; Joshua's is good but pricey. Taco Juans is downscale, but good. Mountain Gate Indian restaurant is the only Indian food in town (pretty good). the small eatery behind Dharmaware is very good (try the crab cakes). For fine dining, try the Onion down Rt. 212 east towards Saugerties about 5 miles at intersection of Glasgow Turnpike. Further down the road is New World which is also very good and has live music sometimes. If you have a New York State fishing license, and a Reservoir permit, you can fish the mighty Ashokan Reservoir for Brown and Rainbow trout, and smallmouth bass. One does not need a license or permit to fish the Hudson River as it is considered tidal water. In the spring the striped bass are the main quarry with American Shad a close second.

Hike through the Catskills Mountain Trail Systems.  See incredible glacier "lakes", rock formations and water falls just two hours from New York City.  Marvel at the Big, Star-studded sky.  Hear drummers welcome the new moon at the medow in front of KTD Monastery.  Feast on Fine, Local gourment food while sitting creekside under ancient wooden beams at The  Bear Cafe.  Explore the many wonderful artists galleries and historic sites such as: Byrdcliffe; The Woodstock Guild; Elena Zang Gallery,:Clouds Artisan Gallery, Fletcher Gallery, and SweetHeart Gallery, an American Art & Fine Handmade Craft Gallery of local and national crafts, which over looks a beautiful waterfall on tannery brook road in the heart of Woodstock. In the evening, perhaps a concert or a show at The Bearsville Theatre, The Woodstock Playhouse, Maverick or The Kleinert James will inspire.  Continue your journey at River Rock Health Spa or take a pilates class at The Moving Body or yoga at Bliss.  Woodstock is the perfect getaway-a civilized yet relaxed retreat.
