Lake St Clair is at the southern edge of the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park, which is part of Tasmania's World Heritage Wilderness area. It is also the end point of the six-day Overland Track walk.
There a passenger ferry service to cruise the lake, starting near the Visitor Centre.
The visitor centre is accessible from the Lyell Highway near Derwent Bridge.
