Cannon Beach is an active arts community, with a local theater company that produces and stages performances in The Coaster Theatre Playhouse.  The theater building was built in the 1920’s and originally housed a skating rink that sometimes doubled as a silent movie theater.  Renovated in the 1960’s, the building now provides a cozy, intimate atmosphere for theater and concert-goers alike.  Located on the south end of the town center’s main street, Hemlock, it’s easy to find.  In addition to theater productions and concerts, art shows are regularly scheduled in the building.

Although there are matinees scheduled for many of the theater’s productions, most evening performances begin at 8:00pm.  With most Cannon Beach restaurants closing by 10:00pm, theater-goers have few options for after-performance meals and/or drinks.  Perhaps the best and most convenient is historic Bill’s Tavern and Brewhouse, located just a block or so north, in the center of town.
