This historic neighborhood, referred to as "Nob Hill" in some guides and in several business names, is often simply called "Northwest " by residents. Here you can find fun and interesting local boutiques, home decor shops, restaurants and cafes, especially along NW 23rd and NW 21st Avenues. Wildwood, Paley’s Place, 23 Hoyt, Pizzicato, Caffe Mingo, Serratto, Lucy's Table, SwagatJo Bar and Papa Haydn are a few of the local restaurants that are popular. Moonstruck Chocolate is a nice place to buy truffles. Escape from New York Pizza is one of the oldest local pizza joints, where you can grab a slice or a whole pie to go.

The Inn at Northrup Station is a great place for lodging in the area and is reasonably priced compared to many downtown hotels. It is located right on the Portland Streetcar line, which is very convenient for getting around town.
