if you are coming to Byron Bay for Splendour or Bluesfest in future (or any of the other incredible festivals & events) you should know that public transport here is, for want of a better word, shocking! It hardly exists. You need to plan ahead with regard to getting here and getting around.
If you are flying in book your airport transfer now. Xcede has efficient service and have many different options, shuttle buses, cars, limos etc. They also own the taxi business here, Byron Bay Taxis, so no one gets left behind (and this is known to happen. Others include Byron Easy Bus & Airporter.
There are generally always bus and shuttle loop services running to these events (definitely the big ones) and taxis are always out in force and there will be a designated taxi rank.
Byron is small and the town will be packed so it is better to use one of these services than drive. You won't go anywhere fast and it could get frustrating.
Parking in Byron town centre can also be an issue but that is a different article.....
Just so you know so you can plan ahead and be safe at the end of the festival :)
