Things to do in Beautiful Sunny Isles:
Samson Oceanfront Park, around 172nd, is only a few years old, and is a lovely access to the beach. It has grass, benches and a small play area for the kiddies. There are restrooms, as well as an outdoor shower nozzle to spray off the beach sand. The beach there has lifeguards, and flags and signs to indicate surf conditions. Petit Snuffy's is a little bar on the beach there, and you can rent chaise lounges and umbrellas from them at a low cost.
Drive or take a bus to the fantastic Aventura Mall. At the first level entrance is a Cheesecake Factory restaurant, which has indoor and outdoor seating. There are other restaurants as well. The mall has a parking garage, outdoor parking, and Valet Parking near the Cheesecake Factory entrance, about $3.00 last season. The stores are varied, from upscale department stores to smaller shops. There is the multi-screen AMC Aventura 24 movie complex on the third level, nice on a rainy day for a relaxing respite from the sun. Just outside the theater is a Johnny Rockets restaurant. The mall has a food court as well as a kiddy play area.
If you have a car, visit the newly renovated Gulfstream Park horse track, just north of Sunny Isles in Hallandale. There, if you'd like, you can make reservations for lunch (there is a minimum charge to reserve a table, but it goes towards your meal if you eat). You can eat inside or request a table trackside.
If you drive to South Beach, there is a city parking garage on 13th street and another on 6th. Or, you can pay for valet parking on Ocean Blvd. South Beach has some great restaurants; a few of favorites are Tuscan Steak House (their chicken dish is to die for), the restaurant at The Pelican and Milano's, both serving excellent Italian food.
Take a drive also to Miami's Bayside marketplace. There are vendors, shops, restaurants and boat tours past Millionnaire's Row, a nice take, about an hour long. There is outdoor entertainment here, and an adjacent park sometimes has free concerts as well. There is also a Sunny Isles Beach mobile app available for iPhone, iPad and Android. It have maps, places to go, information about a tourist place or places of interest, directions, hotels, restaurants, and many other amenities that are in the city.
