Historic downtown McKinney is home to more than 100 boutiques, antique stores, spas, galleries, salons, gelato and coffee shops, live music venues and restaurants. McKinney’s carefully preserved and vibrant allure is hard to resist. Money Magazine even cited McKinney’s gem of a downtown when it ranked the city No. 2 on its list of the “Top 100 Best Places to Live in America” in 2012.

The McKinney Performing Arts Center, housed in the original Collin County Courthouse in the middle of the downtown square, regularly draws crowds with music and comedy acts, plays and art shows.

McKinney offers many one-of-a kind events several times throughout the year. Downtown hosts an entertaining array of annual events, including Arts in Bloom, Bike the Bricks, 4th of July parade, Oktoberfest, Scare on the Square, Home for the Holidays and Krewe of Barkus Mardi Gras dog parade, all of which are free to the public.
