Culture and History

If you prefer culture and history, Ilford boasts the Hospital Chapel of St. Mary & St. Thomas of Canterbury - Ilford, built in the 12th century Known locally as The Hospital Chapel, this is one of the gems in Redbridge’s Crown – Graded II* by English Heritage, it is the oldest building in the London Borough of Redbridge, founded circa 1145AD by Adelicia (Adeliza), Abbess of Barking, as a hospice for 13 aged and infirm men. www.ilfordhospitalchapel.co.uk.
