Every year for the last four years, Staunton has hosted the Fortune Williams Music Festival, which celebrates the cultural diversity of its New World ancestry. It takes place at the Cultural Museum's farm sites and brings you the music of the Germans, the Irish, the English, and the Appalachians in all its old world beauty. Both local and nationally known artists contribute to the experience that takes place at the end of September.
The Staunton Music Festival is another extravaganza not to be confused with the above festivities. Now in its ninth season, the festival offers a wide variety of music types and workshops including Baroque, African drumming, and traditional Japanese music by Viriginia artists and international celebrities alike.
Watch your step at the
Virginia Hot Glass Festival held in April of each year. See demonstrations of traditional glass blowing, sand casting, and bead making. This festival occurs at the same time as Staunton's Victorian Festival, with parades and activities for the whole family. For a touch of class and culture, consider attending a music or drama performance at the
Staunton Performing Arts Center.
