Washburn is a charming little seaside community of 2300 people located on Chequamegon Bay (Lake Superior) that is renowned for it's beautiful sand beaches, marinas and access to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Enjoy quaint little shops, art galleries, coffee shops, museum, a bistro, bars, restaurants, theater, walking trails and magnificent sunrises.  Small town America at it's best!

During the Spring and Summer, bring your ATV, bike,  kayak the scenic lakeshore, fish the bay, streams, inland lakes and the islands, golf at 3 golf courses, hike Big Rock, Valhalla, Ashwabay and Chequamegon Forest. Enjoy a swim on one of the numerous sandy beaches (Chequamegon Bay is much warmer than the rest of Lake Superior because it is a shallow bay). Children will enjoy catching fish from the fishing pier and the coal dock. In the afternoon head over to one of many local dining establishments and steakhouses, followed by an evening of entertainment at Big Top Chautauqua or Stage North.

Head over to Bayfield for a day trip, fishing charter, take a ferry to Madeline Island or a tour boat out to see islands, lighthouses, majestic sea caves and beautiful Lake Superior. Head over to Ashland to Timeless Timber, see wildlife at Prentice Park or shop Main Street. Whether in a car or on a motorcycle, take the Highway 13, County Road C loop and stop at little seaside villages like Port Wing, Herbster, Cornucopia, Russell (Little Sand Bay Visitor Center) and  Red Cliff.

In the Fall come to enjoy the Apple Fest in Bayfield, pick your own apples in the numerous orchards, enjoy the Fall colors.

In the Winter, come to snowshoe, ski, icefish and snowmobile (over 650 miles of groomed trails & forestry road-Bayfield County). Washburn is on the snowmobile/atv trail system. Mount Ashwabay has downhill, snowshoeing & cross-country skiing-Mount Valhalla has snowshoeing & cross country skiing.
