Hamura's Saimin Stand

Getting to Hamura's is the most difficult part of the journey. When you turn on to Rice Street from Rt. 51 go slowly. If you get to the Pink Motel (on your left) you've gone too far! Turn around then turn left at the intersection just past the pink motel. Hamura's will be on your left side. Park wherever you can.

The food is incredible! We ordered the special Saimin (recommended!!) and a skewer each of chicken and beef teriyaki. The Saimin was about $4.00 each and the skewers were 1.35 each. An absolute bargain in Kauai.

We were welcomed as if we were locals and served promptly. The seating is family style with wooden stools to sit on. Just find a seat and enjoy the experience. If you go to Kauai this is one spot that you must go to -- just like snorkleing or scuba diving while you are there its just something that has to be experiences.

Hamura's was just awarded the James Beard Award for the most authentic ethnic food in the United States.

I already have another trip planned to Kauai and this will be my first thing to do when I get there.
