The Terrace Restaurant is located in the elegant Ritz Carlton on Nob Hill, once Cogswell Polytechnical College. The Terrace's most singular attraction is the outside patio, where a large fountain and pretty colorful flowers make a lovely, fresh-air setting in the heart of the city. There are two restaurants here, this being the more casual one and an excellent choice for lunch if it's a nice day. Outside dining is available when the weather is warm, so be aware that when it's not, you will be sitting indoors.
The indoor dining room is more formally-appointed with fine stemware and glassware, but the restaurant encourages casual attire. Even from the inside, the fountain and landscaping enjoyed from the windows looking onto the patio. The Terrace has a fixed price lunch, as well. Like many San Francisco restaurants, the Cal-Mediterranean menu changes frequently and there are many entrees, salads and desserts from which to choose.
