Barking Crab is known for good local seafood in an outdoor, casual setting.  Seating overlooks the channel.  The restaurant has a loyal following, some of whom would assert it's the best seafood in Boston.  While that's a steep claim in the seafood-crazy market of Boston, most would agree it's tasty, local and fresh.  Certainly a classic clambake menu.

When to go:  Tops in the summer but open year-round.

Reservations/Waiting times:  Waits can get long on summer nights, particularly on the weekends so either plan to go early or ask about reservations if you're coming with a large crowd.

Dress code :  None.  Everybody's casual.  One tip, particularly early or late in the summer season, you may want to bring a light jacket to wear after dark when it can get a cool. Oh, and prepare to wear a bib and STILL make a mess.
