The Mount Marathon race is held every 4th of July. It is the biggest event of the year and the 2nd oldest foot race in America. The main streets downtown are closed to vehicle traffic for craft and food vendors. There is also a parade, live music and games for the young and young at heart.
The Silver salmon derby is held the middle of August with daily prizes and a grand prize tagged fish worth $10,000.
The Polar Bear jump is the 3rd Saturday in January. People dress in crazy costumes, parade through town and then jump into the frigid waters of Resurrection Bay to raise money for cancer research.
