Natchez has a semi-tropical climate with warm summers and mild winters. Winters have an average temperature of 53 degrees. Fall and spring are very comfortable seasons with temperatures in the ideal 60's and 70's. Summer is usually much warmer with temperatures averaging in the high 80s but often climbing above with a humid atmosphere and frequent afternoon rain showers.
Those affected by the humidity so much so that an ice-cold lemonade will not revive them, will really enjoy Natchez the most in the springtime. In fact the spring is the tourist high season as it has the best climate of the year. The Spring Pilgrimage tour of homes actually began as a tour of Natchez gardens. Flowers come very early. Paper Whites and Redbud Trees lead the way, with dogwoods, azaleas, and tulips close behind. Late spring and early summer bring us Magnolia blooms and the now famous Natchez Crepe Myrtle. Light clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses and hats are highly recommended no matter what time of year you visit.
If the heat doesn't scare you away, there are some great festivals and events during the summer, including the Natchez Food & Wine Festival an annual Jambalaya coo-off, fireworks and some great musical options.
