Honolulu offers several venues for concerts, live theater, and other performances.
Many of the larger shows and events take place at the Neal Blaisdell Center, a short taxi ride or long walk from Waikiki.
There are also shows like The Magic of Polynesia, and Cirque Hawaii. The Society of Seven is a uniquely Hawaiian show, an odd mix of Broadway and Las Vegas and local sounds, and has been at the Outrigger Hawaii for 32 years- shows nightly Tuesday through Sunday, and they offer a buffet/dinner option as well.
No discussion of Honolulu's performing arts would be complete without a mention of the fantastic Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, where you can frequently catch an indie film, some great music, or a lecture. On a similar note, the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival is pretty spectacular. There are also several community theatres which offer their own seasonal offerings (plays and concerts), around the islands: the best list is here.
Finally, many local bars and clubs bring in DJs and musicians- from Hawaiian music to Japanese techno, with rock and pop offerings mixed in. The Pipeline Cafe is especially popular. Down at Aloha Towers, Don Ho's Island Bar & Grill has nightly music (Top 40, not the man himself).
